The housing minister has recently spoken out on the need to find a fair solution for the numerous illegal settlements around the Syrian cities and particularly Damascus.

The ongoing crisis in Syria has highlighted the huge problems associated with illegal settlements which have flourished in the past few decades due to corruption and inadequate planning.

However the crisis, which has caused big destruction in illegals settlements and consequently displacement of large numbers of its inhabitants, has also offered a potential solution for this endemic problem.
