Depicting various styles of engravings, artisans working in this handicraft are spread throughout Damascus Old City.

Many of the patterns used in wood engraving are derived from architectural styles of various historical periods such as the Ayyubid, Mamluk and Fatimid periods.

Today, most wood engravings are used as part of high end furniture lines, with some still produced as standalone pieces.
