Bab Touma

Bab Touma, North East entrance of the Old City, Damascus, Syria
Bab Touma is one of the seven Roman gates of Damascus old city, and was dedicated to the planet Venus.

It was later given the name of Saint Thomas the Apostle, “Touma” in Arabic, during the Byzantine period.

The gate was reconstructed in the 13th century during the Ayyubid era.
