Sayedat Al-Neyyah Cathedral

Bab Touma, Damascus, Syria
This cathedral was re-built in 1863 during the Ottoman era after it sustained heavy damage during the events of 1860.

The structure was originally built as a synagogue belonging to the Karaite Jewish community in Damascus, who in turn sold it to the Greek Catholic church in early 19th century.

Today, the cathedral is the seat of the Melkite Greek Catholic Church in the Orient.
