Bab Touma

Bab Touma is one of the seven Roman gates of Damascus Old City.

Originally dedicated to planet Venus, the gate was given the name of Saint Thomas the Apostle, “Touma” in Arabic, during the Byzantine Period.

The gate was reconstructed in the 13th century during the Ayyubid Period.
