Dating back to the end of the First World War, this cemetery contains Commonwealth burials from both World Wars.

The year 1918 marked the end of more than 400 years of Ottoman occupation of Syria, when Commonwealth forces spearheaded by tribes from the Arabian Peninsula sabotaged the Hejaz Railway Line and drove the Ottomans out of Damascus.
