Making History from Damascus
Salah Eddine (1138 – 1193) is the founder of the Ayyubid Dynasty that ruled big parts of the Middle East in the 12th and 13th centuries.
He is most famous for defeating the Crusaders in many battles and initiating their demise in the Orient.
Salah Eddine died in Damascus and is buried next to the Umayyad Mosque. His name and reputation of chivalry and high morals live on in every Damascene’s heart.
